Description by the gallery owner

The work, a collaboration between Marco Tamburro and Daniele Oldani, is a provocative reinterpretation of the classic hero. Tex Willer, an iconic comic book character known for his sense of justice, is transformed into a bandit, with a gun pointed at a chessboard.
The chessboard represents the decisions made "over the top" by the elites who govern the world. On it, toy soldiers and small tanks painted red and blue evoke the idea of war as a game, where people's lives are treated with the same casualness with which the pieces are moved during a game. This scenario amplifies the criticism of the powerful, who gamble with the fate of humanity without considering the human cost of their decisions.
Oldani's unmistakable cartoonish style is evident in his portrayal of Tex, whose transformation from hero to antagonist underscores how even the symbols of justice can be corrupted or manipulated. Tamburro's style is evident in his depiction of the chessboard.
The work as a whole is not just an ironic game, but a powerful social commentary. Tamburro and Oldani invite the viewer to reflect on the value of life, the hypocrisy of institutions, and the superficiality with which the tragedy of war is often addressed. The chessboard is not just a symbol of strategy, but a theater of cynicism and power, where each sacrificed piece represents shattered lives.

"DAMA" DANIELE OLDANI X MARCO TAMBURRO

Scopri l'artista

Marco Tamburro and Daniele Oldani, united by a need to express themselves through art, despite their very different stylistic approaches, have successfully combined two opposing pictorial styles with harmony and fluidity. On the one hand, Tamburro's intense and rapid brushstrokes, which explore the anxieties and disenchantment of human beings living in the metropolis; on the other, Oldani's pop imagery, rich in social irony. The fusion of Rome and Milan has given rise to artworks that fully reflect the vision of the two artists. Themes related to society, religion, and war are addressed by the two with clarity and irony. Pictorial elements that characterize such different visions have managed to form a dynamic and coherent connection.
