"Equilibrio," a powerful and symbolic work born from the collaboration between Marco Tamburro and Daniele Oldani, presents itself as a reflection on global inequality and the importance of awareness. The composition is divided into two distinct sections, separated by a wall that marks a clear divide between two opposing realities. In the upper section, an urban skyline looms, a landscape constructed with Tamburro's unmistakable style, evoking progress, modernity, and Western civilization with his signature painting. Sitting on the wall is Pinocchio, depicted in profile so that his long nose, a symbol of deceit, is particularly prominent, underscoring the falsehoods and hypocrisies that permeate society.
Beneath the wall, the scene changes dramatically, revealing two children from different worlds. On one side, a child rooted in Western culture cries, disappointed because he didn't receive the toy he wanted. His discontent represents the insatiability and ingratitude that often characterize younger generations, incapable of appreciating what they possess. On the other side, amidst the rubble and desolation, a child with a vacant expression plays with what he has, using as a toy the very object the Western child rejected. The child's vacant gaze amidst the rubble speaks of a reality of deprivation and suffering, in stark contrast to the superficiality and abundance of the other side.
The work, titled Think, is a direct call to reflection, an invitation to look beyond one's own needs and dissatisfactions. It is a denunciation directed especially at the younger generations, who too often get lost in consumerism and the pursuit of the superfluous, forgetting that on the other side of the world there are children living in extremely degraded conditions, deprived of the right to childhood and happiness.
