I paint instinctively, drawing inspiration from classical oil painting. I'm fascinated by exploring the techniques of the great masters, discovering how they achieved certain lighting, color palettes, and all the processes that contributed to the creation of classical painting. Portraiture is an infinite source of inspiration for me: through it, I can explore a boundless range of emotions and sensibilities. A single glance can say so much. The distortion of reality occurs as the painting takes shape; sometimes I prepare my works by combining collages, other times I paint directly, without any preparation. In most cases, my characters arise from the imagination: they are inspired by influential figures such as kings, dukes, barons, but also by contemporary figures. Vegetation and still life are recurring elements in my work: I certainly don't have a "green thumb," but I enjoy treating these subjects because they offer me freedom of distortion and dissolution, allowing me to create imaginary flowers and unexpected combinations. I always leave a realistic element in my compositions, so that the viewer can grasp something figurative; Otherwise, I would fall into pure abstraction. I desire only one thing: to provoke a reaction in the viewer. Like it or not, my goal is to engage the viewer as they contemplate my paintings. I believe the history of the classical portrait is now over: today, artists who experiment with this genre seek novelty, and figurative deconstruction offers infinite possibilities for expression.
