Take the Risk

In this work by Edward Spitz, we witness a dialogue between pop culture and cinema through the iconographic juxtaposition of Leonardo DiCaprio and Donald Duck. Leonardo DiCaprio is depicted in the famous scene from the film The Wolf of Wall Street, holding a dollar, a symbol of power and financial success. Next to him is a caricature of Donald Duck, depicted in the same pose, also holding a dollar, in an ironic interplay between reality and fiction. The background is made of comics and the characters are painted with acrylic paints. The work is completed with the application of a glossy resin, Spitz's signature technique, which gives the overall effect depth and brilliance. The phrase "Take the risk, if you win you will be happy, if you lose you will be wise" stands out on the work as an invitation to take risks: if you win, you achieve happiness; if you lose, you gain wisdom. The message Edward Spitz wishes to convey is an exhortation not to fear uncertainty, because both success and failure enrich the human experience.
