The lights of the buildings, shop windows and street lamps come on and, all together, they create a sort of uninterrupted flow whose consistency recalls fog or a body of water. Even if the human presence is totally absent, except for the headlights of the cars, one senses that the interiors of the buildings are teeming with life.
