New York Warm Lights is an oil on canvas measuring 110×140 cm that depicts New York in a characteristic early winter evening. The lights of the buildings, shop windows and street lamps come on and, all together, they create a sort of uninterrupted flow whose consistency recalls fog or a body of water. Even if the human presence is totally absent, except for the headlights of the cars, one senses that the interiors of the buildings are teeming with life. Those who finish work late, those who are preparing to spend an evening in a club. We are only allowed to imagine the people and stories sheltered inside the buildings by observing the artificial lights that illuminate them and jealously guard their secrets.
