Stefania Vichi
Stefania Vichi (born 1986 in Città di Castello, Perugia) lives and works in Perugia. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Dance in London and a qualified lawyer, she has dedicated herself entirely to art. Her artistic practice is a continuous performance in which the artist and the work merge, forging an inseparable relationship between body and creation.
Since childhood, immersed in the world of antiques thanks to her family, she has developed a profound respect for art as a bridge between past and present. Her research focuses on transforming abstract concepts into three-dimensional works with strong visual and emotional impact, exploring the boundaries between form and function. Often inspired by the dialogue between order and chaos, rationality and intuition, Vichi challenges conventional perceptions through immersive experiences that require the viewer's active participation. Her art has a universal language, capable of making thought tangible and accessible to all.
One of his most iconic works is the Lex Italica series, a collection of sculptures representing abstract labyrinths with exits. These works are not simple geometries, but metaphors for life paths, obstacles, and solutions. Sculpture becomes a tool for existential reflection, inviting the viewer to engage with the concept of problem solving. The Lex Italica, characterized by a baroque virtuosity, are crafted from eco-friendly resin and tetrafilament, with drapes that run through their form, creating a unique plasticity. The visceral movement of the twists, suggesting caged bodies searching for a way out, often explodes into spheres that break the confines of the canvas and the frame.
Her artistic practice, deeply rooted in Italian craftsmanship, looks to the future through the use of innovative materials such as ceramic, metal, and eco-friendly resins. Her sculptures are integrated into diverse contexts, from public installations to private spaces and design.
Since 2015, she has been working on large-scale works, collaborating with architectural firms and participating in international exhibitions and fairs. In 2019, she was selected as one of the emerging artists of the MOOVART project, exhibiting at Castel dell'Ovo (Naples), the RIBA North in Liverpool, the Arthill Gallery in London, and the Zeffirelli Museum in Florence. That same year, she was a finalist in the ROMART2019 competition.
In 2020, she presented the solo exhibition Rinascimento (feat. Barocco) LOADING ART at Palazzo Ranieri di Sorbello in Perugia, curated by Carlo Pizzichini. She participated in the group exhibition Refolded. Percorsi Meta-artistici, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva at the Fondazione Pastificio Cerere in Rome, and exhibited at Emirates Art Connection in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. She was a published finalist for the EXIBART PRIZE 2020.
In 2021, she participated in the Monte Carlo Art Biennale and exhibited at Palazzo La Pietà during the Venice Architecture Biennale. Since 2022, she has collaborated with the White Stone Gallery in Hong Kong, exhibiting at Art Central. That same year, she participated with two site-specific installations in Horti Pacis, a group exhibition in San Quirico d'Orcia as part of Forme nel Verde, for which she conceived and directed a contemporary dance performance with Yevgeniya Korshunova, prima ballerina of the Kiev Opera.
In 2023, she was invited by Pure Art Circle to create a site-specific project in the Siusi Alps. She exhibited LexitALICA, an exhibition of 15 works, at the Mare Pineta Resort in Milano Marittima, alongside Park Eun Sun's exhibition. Her collaboration with the resort will continue in 2024, with a new exhibition with Igor Mitoraj, and in 2025, when she will exhibit alongside Pablo Atchugarry.
In 2023, he organized and moderated the conference "Predictive Art. Josh Kline and Artificial Intelligence" with the Commission Beyond the Law of the Perugia Bar Association, and the conference "Evasive Art," which gave rise to the exhibition of the same name featuring works by artists incarcerated in Rebibbia prison, in collaboration with the Seconda Chance Association.
Since 2023, he has presented his solo exhibition, Take Care of Art, during Arte in Nuvola in Rome. In 2024, he exhibited at Milan Design Week with Art Meets Design at the Artevents Gallery (Duomo).
In 2024, she was assigned the 53rd edition of Forme nel Verde (July 20 - November 4), becoming the first woman to curate the event in 53 years, following artists such as Maurizio Cattelan, Michelangelo Pistoletto, and Helidon Xhixha. The edition, titled Comfort Zone, featured an exhibition of approximately thirty works, including twenty-six previously unseen works, and a contemporary dance performance conceived by the artist. The works were displayed in San Quirico d'Orcia, Bagno Vignoni, and the Chapel of the Madonna della Vitaleta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Tuscany.
In December 2024, she was a guest of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts (Milan) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo for a series of lectures for students. Since 2025, she has been represented by the Daniele Comelli Gallery in Genoa.
