Description by the gallery owner

The young Italian artist Nikki Floran seems to embrace and reinterpret the legacy of Nouveau Réalisme, an artistic movement that profoundly influenced the second half of the twentieth century. In particular, his work engages with that of Arman, renowned for transforming everyday objects into timeless artistic icons. Consider his 1970 installation, in which a collection of electric razors was elevated to the rank of a work of art.

Inspired by this vision, Nikki Floran reinterprets everyday objects, transforming them into works of art. Using epoxy resin, she fixes and crystallizes her subjects, stopping time and giving them a new dimension: that of eternity.

Floran's work is not just a simple revival of the language of French Pop Art, but a contemporary evolution: he absorbs the past, reworks it, and restores it in a contemporary key, using products and symbols of modern pop culture.

Nikki Floran is a young emerging sculptor in the contemporary art scene, recognized for his innovative technique of embedding iconic objects in resin. Born in Milan in 1995 and raised internationally, Floran captures and immortalizes time through works that blend art and history, creating pieces that challenge the perception of time and memory. Since childhood, Nikki Floran has shown a deep passion for art and experimentation with different materials. After completing her secondary education, she attended the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, where she developed an interest in resin sculpture. During her academic career, she refined her technique and began exploring the idea of freezing time by incorporating objects of cultural and personal significance into her sculptures. His work stands out for his ability to capture the essence of iconic objects, freezing them in time through the use of transparent resin. His sculptures not only celebrate the beauty of the objects they encapsulate, but also invite the audience to reflect on their historical and cultural significance. Floran's works include a wide range of objects, from vintage toys to Campari bottles (designed in 1932 by the futurist Fortunato Depero) to obsolete technological devices to glass Coca Cola bottles, each chosen for its symbolic value. Nikki Floran is committed to continuing his exploration of resin art, always seeking new objects to immortalize and new stories to tell. His goal is to create works that not only captivate viewers, but also prompt them to reflect on the fleeting nature of time and the permanence of memory.
