Elizabeth Vigèe Le Brun is the official portraitist of Marie Antoinette at the court of Versailles. Paolo Pilotti borrows three subjects created by the famous painter. Starting from the left we find: Princess Elizabeth of Versailles, the Baroness of Crussol and Duchess Marie Gabrielle de Gramont. “Let's party” indicates the intentions of the three women. The beautiful, dressed-up girls are ready to go and party. Pilotti dresses the ladies in Valentino dresses. Clothes and many details of this creation have very well-matched color shades. Red is the color that dominates the work. Paolo Pilotti decontextualizes the three ladies of nineteenth-century origin and projects them into our worldly contemporaneity characterized by hedonism.
