“Veiled obsession for Chanel” is inspired by Raffello Sanzio's work “La Velata” painted between 1512 and 1515, a masterpiece preserved in the Palatine gallery of Palazzo Pitti in Florence. It is very interesting how Paolo Piotti transforms the subjects of the works of the Renaissance artistic tradition into glamorous subjects of our present. Piotti's Madonna is represented with clothing and luxury objects all branded Chanel: diamond earrings, hair pins studded with diamonds, gold chains with flashy slashes, bottles of Chanel No. 5 and the cloak that covers the virgin's head it is full of characteristic symbols of the French brand. In the background the landscape is characterized by small flowers and clouds with shades of pink, embellished with flying pearl necklaces, birds holding Chanel gold chains in their claws, floating lipsticks, red and pink roses and colorful butterflies. The details of the work are executed with meticulous care such as the draping of the garment worn by the "fashion Virgin". Also in this case, as in other works by the Roman artist, the Madonna is transformed into a Pop Icon, becoming an exceptional testimonial for the Parisian brand.
