Super Mario Splash is a sculpture created by Jonathan Griffith which represents Super Mario, the popular plumber, protagonist of the game of the same name created by the famous Japanese company Nintendo, as he is preparing to make his most famous move: the jump. Mario has become a character in the iconography of popular culture and the Tuscan artist decides to celebrate him through sculpture, transforming the protagonist of the video game into a Pop fetish. The plaster and resin sculpture is on a white base, to which a decoration of pink and black colored splashes is added which recalls the Dripping technique used by Jackson Pollock to create his works.
Jonathan Griffith
Jonathan Griffith was born in Grosseto on 26 October 1979. Son of Sergio, owner of one of the most important local body shops, he discovered his love for creativity and colors by working with his father. After his studies, he dedicated himself to the design of aerodynamic kits for cars and then, in 2008, became a nautical broker. The desire to celebrate the birthday of his best friend, Anna Maria, with a unique and personalized gift is the spark that launches him into the world of art. Recovered paints and composites, he created his first work, a brilliant and material painting called "Soccer". From there it never stops. Combining his passion for Pop Art with his skills, he gives life to fiberglass sculptures finished with paints and bodywork processes, thanks to which they take on that sparkling patina that drives the public crazy. Each piece is entirely handmade and unique: there will never be two completely identical pieces due to the life of the materials and the craftsmanship of the processes.
