This year, we're reaching a significant milestone for Context Miami Art Week. The Daniele Comelli Art Gallery will present a selection of unique and exclusive works by newly-elected artists, capable of enriching the contemporary art scene.
Francesco De Panis nourishes us with his daily bread of rural hyperrealism. Critically acclaimed for his work, he has established himself as a master of ultrarealistic painting techniques. His compositions open like wings onto often rural and rustic settings.
Martin Koester stands in stark contrast, faithful to his urban expressionism, and is among the artists selected for Context. His poetics engage with abstraction and consistent, counter-current pictorial gestures. Roberto Bernardi also engages with a growing trend, fueled by the timeless vitality of Pop Art.
At first glance, we observe a shift that marks a new relationship between the narrated—or materially shaped—object and the viewer. The ambitious feat of establishing a face-to-face relationship with the audience is achieved, which, in Bernardi's works as in those of Catherine Coady, questions consumerism. Both offer a glimpse of a new way to synthesize the media exodus of "Donuts" and Xanax pills.
It's no secret that, in recent years, Coady has become an international force, exhibiting in various parts of the world. Her presence, along with Simon Del Grillo, reinforces the desire to establish a deeper narrative with personal roots and existential issues. Epistemological inquiry, a hallmark of the Venetian artist, arrives in Miami.
Two other artists, Daniele Oldani and Marco Tamburro, join the selection in a solid and recognizable guise, united by an equally distinct and personal vision. Oldani's canvases are rich in typical Pop Art iconography, celebrated with ironic and irreverent references. What is the artist's aim? It's conceivable that he's helping us navigate an anthological and nostalgic exploration of images. Projecting an apocalyptic vision, his paintings often clearly subvert society's natural status quo.
Marco Tamburro will be present at Context Miami with exclusive works, which will be disclosed for the first time during Miami Art Week.
The series concludes with an important collection by Giovanni Confortini. This artist's works are a triumph of pictorial technique. His favorite subjects include books, which, in our opinion, deserve further exploration. We will decorate an entire wall with Confortini's canvases to recreate a library.
We are confident that these contents will bring curatorial value to our commitment as a contemporary art gallery and to our participation in the Miami Context program.
