“Better Word Hope” by Paul Thierry has the comic book character Superman as its main subject: the artist portrays the superhero with his back turned with the long red cape with the letter “S”, the unmistakable logo of the hero created by DC comics. The valiant protagonist is writing the words "Hope" on a darkly colored geographical map with a red spray can. The darling of justice holds the can in his right hand and extends his arm to conclude his graffiti which represents the distrust that Superman is feeling towards humanity. “Hope” is the cry of Superman who finds himself gripped in this society which between wars, climate changes and famines seems to no longer have any hope of redemption. The comics icon, therefore, in this creation is not portrayed with the usual irony that characterizes Pop works of art, but is depicted with a veil of sadness.
