The staff of the Daniele Comelli Art Gallery had the pleasure and honor of attending the opening of the exhibition "Icarus Dream," a surreal pop-art journey into the world of Angelo Accardi, in the extraordinary setting of Palazzo Donà delle Rose, one of the pavilions of the 2024 Venice Biennale. "Icarus Dream" is not only a presentation of Angelo Accardi's works, but also represents the fusion of two worlds: that of the Sapri-born artist and that of Gianpiero. The two artists have collaborated in recent months. Their union came naturally, allowing two seemingly opposing worlds to interact and create unique works.
Accardi's pop imagery thus merged with Gianpiero's cheerful and carefree world. During the evening, the two artists were interviewed by Daniele Comelli and, on this special occasion, explained the reason for their collaboration, describing themselves as two neighbors who live in different apartments but within the same "building": the building of art. Gianpiero represents contemporary, digital art; remember, he is the creative director of the Drew House brand, founded by Justin Bieber. Angelo Accardi, on the other hand, represents an art more rooted in the pictorial tradition. Despite this apparent distance, the two managed to harmoniously blend their works, presented exclusively at the vernissage.
Daniele Comelli was therefore delighted to introduce this unique and special collaboration, bringing together two great artists from Campania, now influential figures in the contemporary art scene. The resulting series of works fuses the two artists' iconic characters: Accardi's Ostriches and Gianpiero's Teddy Bears, brought together in the same painting, creating a truly unique and special work of art.
